Purpose of review <p>This review aims to evaluate the diagnosis and management of adolescents with bleeding or clotting disorders, with a specific focus on how these effect contraception and heavy menstrual bleeding.</p> Recent findings <p>In patients with bleeding disorders, tranaxamic acid may be a good addition to hormonal management options. In adolescents with a history of venous thromboembolism, it is important to continue a safe contraception method to prevent unintended pregnancy.</p> Summary <p>A wide range of bleeding and clotting disorders affect adolescents, and there are multiple hormonal and nonhormonal options that can be used for treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding and contraception in these patients.</p>
