In this review, we aim to provide a thorough and up-to-date overview of the instrumentation and techniques currently available for hysteroscopic myomectomy and polypectomy. By comparing the efficacy, safety, and practicality of various approaches, we will explore how these innovations have contributed to improved patient outcomes. Furthermore, we highlight the most recent technological advancements and examine potential future directions in the field, offering a forward-looking perspective on the continual evolution of hysteroscopic surgery.
Recent FindingsAdvanced mechanical techniques, including hysteroscopic tissue retrieval systems and electrical devices like monopolar and bipolar resectoscopes, are widely utilized for managing endometrial polyps and submucosal fibroids. While resectoscopy has been the standard for treating submucosal myomas and polyps since the 1970s, hysteroscopic tissue retrieval systems have gained popularity due to their ease of use, shorter learning curve, and energy-free mechanical operation. We also explore the application of newer technologies such as the diode laser for management of intrauterine pathology.
