摘要

Purpose of the Review

This review aims to revise the role of cryobiopsy in the diagnosis of interstitial lung diseases, peripheral pulmonary nodules, and intrathoracic adenopathy, emphasizing the most recent advances and evidence supporting its use.

Recent Findings

Cryotechniques have become increasingly valuable in diagnostic bronchoscopy. Transbronchial cryobiopsy performed in experienced centers has proven useful in the diagnosis of interstitial lung diseases, contributing significantly to the multidisciplinary discussion and with a better safety profile compared to surgical biopsy. Additionally, EBUS-guided cryobiopsy has emerged as a promising technique in the diagnosis of intrathoracic adenopathy, particularly in benign diseases and lymphoma. Finally, cryobiopsy increases diagnostic yield in the rapidly evolving field of bronchoscopy for peripheral pulmonary lesions.

Summary

Cryobiopsy represents a valuable addition to conventional biopsy methods, offering higher diagnostic yields with low complication rates when performed with the appropriate technique in experienced centers.
