Mate van overeenkomst in het scoren van mictieklachten bij de patiënt tussen de patiënt en zijn partner
摘要
The International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS) is widely used to assess micturition complaints. This study evaluates whether partners can complete the IPSS on behalf of patients unable to do so themselves.
MaterialsCouples independently completed the IPSS. Exclusion criteria included having a catheter > 7 days, spending < 3 evenings/week together, or a relationship < 1 year.
ResultsIn 46.5% of cases, patient and partner scored within the same IPSS severity category (mild, moderate, or severe). Irritative symptoms, particularly nocturia, and the quality-of-life question, showed greater consistency than obstructive symptoms.
ConclusionThe IPSS total scores completed by partners show insufficient agreement with those reported by the patients to be considered reliable. However, items concerning irritative symptoms and quality of life demonstrated promising results and warrant further investigation.
