Introduction <p>Alternative treatments for urinary tract infections (UTIs) are needed due to rising antibiotic resistance. This study assessed the safety, effectiveness, and treatment satisfaction of bladder irrigation with tap water (BI) in catheter users with recurrent UTIs.</p> Methods <p>In this prospective observational study, the number of antibiotics, UTIs, and treatment satisfaction were compared over a&#xa0;3-month period without and with BI.</p> Results <p>Among 60&#xa0;patients, antibiotic use decreased by 38.1% (IRR = 0.62; <i>p</i> = 0.016) and the number of UTIs decreased by 37.9% (IRR = 0.62; <i>p</i> = 0.005). UTI-related hospitalizations remained stable. The majority rated BI positively for effectiveness (81%), ease of use (86%), and overall satisfaction (85%).</p> Conclusion <p>BI reduces both antibiotic use and UTIs in catheter users with recurrent infections. This safe and patient-friendly method is easy to implement and promotes sustainable healthcare.</p>

Introduction

Methods
