Het regionale nierkanker-MDO: nuttig of niet?
摘要
The incidence of kidney cancer is rising. Patients with (suspected) kidney cancer in the four participating hospitals in Rotterdam and the surrounding area are discussed in a multidisciplinary team meeting (MDM). In 2020 a total of 252 patients from urology departments were discussed in this meeting. Discussion at this meeting led to a change in the treatment plan in 12% of the cases. The main reason for changing the intended treatment was uncertainty about the nature of the kidney abnormality. The MDM advice was executed in 95% of the cases. The main reasons not to follow the MDM-advice were comorbidity or patient preference. 11% of the treated lesions turned out to be benign. Discussion of a case in the kidney cancer-MDM has an important influence on the choice for a treatment option for patients with (suspected) kidney cancer.
