Ontwikkelingen in de behandeling van gemetastaseerd hormoongevoelig prostaatcarcinoom
摘要
The management of metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate carcinoma (mHSPC) is in full progress. Although androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) is still the cornerstone of the treatment of mHSPC, in recent years intensification of treatment with chemotherapy or inhibitors of the androgen receptor pathway have demonstrated to significantly improve survival, with reasonable toxicity. In addition, promising therapies are being investigated, such as inhibitors of poly(adenosine diphosphate ribose) polymerase (PARP) in patients with a DNA repair deficiency (DRD). This article describes the current state of diagnostics and management of mHSPC in daily urological practice and provides an overview of important developments. Also, it pays attention to the role of the urologist in the multidisciplinary treatment of mHSPC.
