<p>The culinary spices exhibit aromatic flavours, vibrant colour and medicinal properties. Despite the growing interest in the spices-derived phytocompounds (e.g., alkaloids, terpenoids, polyphenols, fatty acids), there is still a paucity of research exploring their mechanism and efficiency as antifungal and antibiofilm agents against candidiasis. Hence, exploring spice-derived nutraceuticals, as potential antibiofilm agents against invasive fungal infections caused by <i>Candida</i> spp. offers promising prospects for the treatment of candidiasis. In this review article, we report 15 naturally occurring spices and their extracts capable of fighting invasive fungal infections caused by <i>Candida</i> spp. We also strove to understand their underlying molecular mechanisms and relative efficacy. This could lead to the development of novel therapeutic antifungal scaffolds. However, the pharmacokinetic assessment and toxicological studies of spice-derived phytocompounds must be critically checked to evaluate their safety profile and to establish their potential in translational medicine.</p> Graphical abstract <p>Culinary spices obtained from different parts of the plant.</p>
