摘要

There is a never-ending debate regarding the natural resource curse hypothesis in the economics literature. However, the role of digital governance in reshaping the resources curse hypothesis is relatively unexplored. To fill this research gap, the present study intends to reinvestigate the impact of mineral rent on economic growth (i.e., natural resource curse hypothesis) in the presence of digital governance. To this end, a panel dataset for BRICS countries is utilized that covers the period 2008–2022. The estimates reveal that the mineral rent impedes economic growth in the long run and Hence validates the resource curse hypothesis. Secondly, digital governance promotes growth. Finally, the combined impact of digital governance and minerals rent is positive, indicating that digital governance leads to the resource blessing hypothesis. Based on empirical outcomes, this study proposes comprehensive policy agenda for achieving the sustainable development goals, such as SDG 08 (economic growth), SDG 09 (innovation), and SDG 16 (strong institutions).
