<p>One hundred years ago, quantum mechanics reached its final formulation after a long and profound period of conceptual development. This centenary has been celebrated worldwide during 2025 as the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology (IYQ), recognizing both the historical impact of quantum theory and its central role in modern science and technology. In this context, the Brazilian Physical Society (<i>Sociedade Brasileira de Física</i> – SBF) joined the celebrations by organizing a Special Issue of the <i>Brazilian Journal of Physics</i>. This introductory note presents the motivation behind this initiative and offers a brief overview of the contributions collected in the Issue, which reflect the diversity, vitality, and continuing evolution of Brazilian quantum science.</p>
