Promotion of hemicelluloses dissolution from bagasse/bagasse pith mixture using microwave expansion treatment
摘要
Bagasse and bagasse pith are rich in hemicelluloses, which make them ideal for biomass resources. However, the extraction of hemicelluloses from bagasse is limited due to the large surface area and strong adsorption properties of bagasse pith. In this study, we report a green approach, referred to as microwave expansion, aimed at enhancing the hemicelluloses yield from a mixture of bagasse and bagasse pith. Using a mixture ratio of bagasse and bagasse pith at 70/30, the hemicelluloses yield of expanded bagasse mixed with expanded pith (less than 20 mesh) increased by 56.50%. The microwave expansion pretreatment technology addresses the issue of non-uniform hemicelluloses extraction, which arises from the differences in physical form and chemical composition between bagasse and bagasse pith during hemicelluloses extraction process. The findings indicated that microwave expansion significantly enhanced the dissolution of hemicelluloses from a mixture of bagasse and bagasse pith.
