摘要

In 2022, researchers from a consortium of universities were awarded funding to investigate educational outcomes in relation to school attendance, engagement and retention of First Nations students in remote schools in the Northern Territory (NT) and Western Australia (WA)(‘the EPP Project’, Guenther et al., 2023). In this paper, we present findings of an evaluation of the EPP Project insofar as they relate to best practice in research design and the lived experience of Community Based Researchers (CBRs). Community Based Research and the involvement of CBRs is increasingly acknowledged as a precondition to best-practice Indigenous research throughout the world, but little is understood about the experience or perspectives of First Nations CBRs in the Australian context, including how research agendas are identified and implemented. This paper speaks into that gap in knowledge.
