摘要

Mismatched conditions can significantly degrade the performance of PV modules, resulting in power loss. Conventional PV sub-modules are protected by a bypass diode. This paper proposes an easy reconfiguration strategy by modifying the interconnections among the existing PV sub-modules using the proposed configuration switching circuit in different topologies allowing multiple configurations. The output of the configuration switching circuit feeds to the modified flyback converter with an adjusted turns ratio to ensure constant output voltage. This is achieved by adding taps to the transformer’s secondary windings to align with the characteristics of the reconfigurable PV module which simplifies the converter control. The performance of the proposed system is evaluated by comparing it to a conventional system, which uses a conventional PV module connected to a flyback converter equipped with a recent global peak tracking algorithm, and a system that utilizes differential power processing converters. The results demonstrate that the reconfigurable PV module outperforms the conventional one in terms of maximum output power, power losses, fill factor, and performance ratio. The simulation results demonstrate that the reconfigurable PV module (RPVM) outperforms the conventional PV module (CPVM) and has a power improvement in the range varying from 6.9% to 55.82% in simulations and 16.66% to 42.86% in experimental validations for the selected patterns. The simple modification of interconnecting the sub-modules to develop the reconfigurable PV module, along with the simple control of the proposed modified flyback converter, makes the proposed system achieve superior performance in comparison with state-of-the-art solutions.
