摘要

This study investigates the fabrication of Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) nanofibers with varying amounts of iodine and honey, through electrospinning, aiming for wound healing purposes with antibacterial properties. Constant poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP) was varied with 0–5% iodine and varied with 2% of honey. The resultant nanofibers were characterized using SEM, FTIR, and TGA, and tested for their antibacterial efficacy against S. aureus and E. coli. Results indicated that higher iodine concentrations led to the reduction in overall diameter of resultant electropsun fibers and addition of honey as increased the overall diameter of fibers. Also, the addition of honey had synergistic effect with iodine and has increased the antibacterial efficacy compared to iodine alone. These findings suggest potential applications for PVP/iodine/honey nanofibers in combating bacterial infections and wound healing applications.
