摘要

This study aims to explore the impact of meso-structure on the macroscopic behavior of concrete by a numerical method. The 3D concrete model which can truly characterize the heterogenous mesoscale structure of concrete was constructed. Utilizing a continuous-discontinuous numerical approach to describe concrete's nonlinear stress–strain response and complicated cracking behavior subjected to a uniaxial compressive load. The shape and gradation of aggregates on compressive strength, cracking behavior, and the failure mechanism underlying these observed macroscopic performances was analyzed. A parameter study was also conducted on the cohesive elements which are responsible for characterizing the interfacial transition zones, damage, and cracks. Results demonstrate that the macroscopic performance such as the stress–strain response, peak strength, softening behavior and crack development is significantly affected by the meso-structure of concrete.
