<p>The management of obesity in patients with cirrhosis and/or metabolic associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) is complex. The Spanish Society for Liver Transplantation (SETH) and the Spanish Society for Bariatric Surgery (SECO) have produced a consensus document providing expert recommendations on different topics regarding bariatric surgery and the management of obesity in candidates before and after liver transplantation. A multidisciplinary group of experts composed of a transplant surgeon, a bariatric surgeon and an hepatologist performed a comprehensive review of the literature and identified clinically relevant questions. A preliminary list of recommendations was drafted and further validated, using a modified Delphi approach, by a panel of 25 transplant team delegates. The present consensus statement contains key recommendations alongside the core supporting scientific evidence.</p> Graphical Abstract <p></p>
