摘要

Background

Obstetric violence (OV) remains a critical global concern, affecting over one-third of women in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Despite the rise in institutional deliveries, the provision of respectful maternity care (RMC) has lagged, necessitating urgent interventions.

Materials and methods

This paper outlines the implementation and impact of “SARTHaC” (Sensitive, Attentive, Respectful, Timely, Humanized Care), a clinician-led, bottom-up pilot initiative in New Delhi, India. Utilizing simulation-based workshops for diverse healthcare cadres, the initiative achieved high participant satisfaction and highlighted the efficacy of simulation in changing provider attitudes.

Conclusion

There is a felt need for multipronged, system-wide approaches to institutionalize respect in maternity care.
