摘要

To systematically investigate the impact of endosymbionts on the fitness and developmental parameters of hemipteran insects, we conducted a comprehensive search across six databases, including Web of Science, ScienceDirect, PubMed, ProQuest, Wiley and EBSCOhost. After screening 4701 articles, we identified 22 relevant articles from which 67 datasets were extracted. These datasets were categorized into three subgroups: Aleyrodidae, Aphidoidea and Pentatomidae. Sensitivity analysis and publication bias analysis were employed to assess the stability and reliability of the results. The meta-analysis revealed that the removal of endosymbionts significantly reduced the net reproductive rate (R0) [SMD = −3.08, 95% CI (−4.50, −1.66), P < 0.0001], intrinsic rate of increase (rm) [SMD = −3.26, 95% CI (−4.97, −1.64), P = 0.0002], and finite rate of increase (λ) [SMD = -2.85, 95% CI (−4.29, −1.40), P = 0.0001]. Additionally, the development time of hemipteran insects was significantly prolonged [SMD = 4.00, 95% CI (2.71, 5.29), P < 0.00001]. However, the elimination of endosymbiont had no significant effect on generation time (T) [SMD = 1.18, 95% CI (−0.69, 3.06), P = 0.22]. This study provides a comprehensive reference for understanding the effects of endosymbionts on the fitness of various hemipteran insects and highlights the utility of meta-analysis in insect research.
