Presence of a glass ceiling and it’s contributing factors to IT and aviation

This study examined the presence of a glass ceiling and the factors contributing to Information Technology (IT) and aviation. This study examined the presence of GC through a self-administered questionnaire. The reliability and validity of the data were checked through SPSS. Thereafter, Chi-square tests and odds ratios were calculated, and the significance of the differences was examined to determine the presence of GCs in the IT and aviation industries from the collected data. ANOVA with the Games –Howell test was conducted as a post hoc analysis to compare the means between multiple factors of GC and subsequently perform pairwise comparisons. Finally, the significance of the differences was checked at the 5% level. IT and aviation measures significantly affected the glass ceiling (GC). Worldwide, although India has the highest number of female pilots, comprising 12.4% of major airlines, the aviation sector in India is dominated by male pilots, and the factors contributing to GC are more prevalent among female employees. A similar metamorphosis of GCs has also been observed in the IT industry. This study was limited by resources and time constraints. Additionally, the study focused only on the IT and aviation industries. Few studies have been conducted on India’s IT and aviation sectors. These findings may help stakeholders at different levels review existing policies and improve them for holistic growth.
