Exploring the effectiveness of bio-formulations from various cattle breeds on pea growth and yield
摘要
Natural farming practices may lead to robust plant growth and help to enhance soil fertility therefore the present experiment was conducted during the Rabi season of 2022–23 and 2023–24 at Zero Budget Natural Farm (ZBNF), Department of Organic Agriculture and Natural Farming, CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with 3 replications viz. bio-formulations prepared with inputs of seven different cattle breed viz Indigenous cow (Pahari) lactating, Indigenous cow (Pahari) dry, Indigenous cow (Sahiwal) lactating, Indigenous cow (Sahiwal) dry, Exotic cow (Jersey) lactating, Exotic cow (Jersey) dry, Indigenous bull (Pahari). Growth parameters, yield attributes and yield were significantly superior under Pahari dry cow plots. Peas growth parameters were significantly superior under Pahari dry cow as compared to other breeds. Peas yield attributes viz Number of nodes per plant (44.5), number of pods per plant (19.9), number seeds per pod (9.8), pod weight (6.0) and pod length (12.3 cm) were significantly higher in Pahari dry cow as compared to other breeds, however no significant effect of bio-formulations prepared from inputs of different cattle breeds was found on 1000 seed weight. Significantly higher seed and stover yield (4104.8 kg/ha and 1743.8 kg/ha respectively) was recorded in Pahari dry cow plots. Overall, results showed that application of bio-formulations prepared from inputs of Indigenous cow (Pahari) dry resulted in significantly higher plant height, growth attributes, yield attributes and yield.
