Impact of natural farming inputs and their microbes on the growth, yield and nutrients of French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) under controlled and field conditions

Conventional chemical farming is costly, depletes soil fertility after overuse, and worsens environmental pollution—all of which put global food security at risk. Natural farming is the most practical and simple farming method that produces healthy crops without endangering the environment to address this issue. Several modified Vedic i.e. Indian ancient natural farming inputs i.e. Panchgavya, Jeevamruth, Beejamruth, Amritpani, Vermiwash, and their microbes were being used to enhance the agricultural outputs and nutrients in the French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) under controlled and field conditions. In both experiments, all the natural inputs and their microbes significantly enhanced the plant growth, chlorophyll content, nutrients (N, P, and K), and enzymatic activities. The Panchgavya treatment and its microbial input outperformed all others in every parameter. A total yield was calculated in the field trial, and it was found to be maximal (730.03 kg/ha) in the combination of Vermiwash, Panchgavya, and Amritpani, followed by Panchgavya (663.95 kg/ha), and the combination of Beejamruth and Jeevamruth (597.10 kg/ha), while it was only 261.40 kg/ha in the control. In a nutshell, this study sought to show that, natural inputs management is a good practice for managing soil health and crop productivity. This research represents a unique method for selecting the ideal ratio of organic inputs to promote the growth and development of crops.
