<p>Propane flame weeding is a weed control method utilized primarily in organic soybeans during vegetative growth stages. However, due to prolonged emergence pattern of weeds, there may be a need for weed control during reproductive stages, which coincides with the end of critical period for weed control (CPWC). Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate response of soybean to flame weeding at vegetative (V4) and reproductive (R1 and R2) stages, with various torch heights (15 or 23&#xa0;cm from the ground level), propane doses (0, 28, 37, 47 and 59&#xa0;kg&#xa0;ha<sup>−1</sup>) and their effects on soybean grain yield. Field studies were conducted in 2022 and 2023 in University of Nebraska-Lincoln Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension and Education Center (ENREEC). The highest soybean injury (90%) occurred when soybean was exposed to flame weeding at V4 growth stage compared to 40% to 50% injury at flowering stages. However, a significant soybean recovery was observed by 28&#xa0;days after treatment (DAT), regardless of the growth stages of flaming. Yield components, including number of pods (41 – 54 plant<sup>−1</sup>), seeds per pod (2.4 – 2.6 pod<sup>−1</sup>), and hundred seed weight (11.3 – 13.7&#xa0;g), as well as grain yield resulted in no differences (0.219 &lt; p &lt; 0.948) across propane doses, torch height, or soybean growth stages. These findings indicated that flame weeding did not affect soybean yield, suggesting that propane flaming can be safely utilized during soybean flowering stages.</p>
