摘要

The main idea of the present work was to investigate the impact of lithological characteristics on the extent of karst development in the Asmari and Sarvak limestone formations based on integrated geochemical, mineralogical analyses, and software-based simulations. The study area was the anticline of White Mountain, situated in the eastern part of Khuzestan province in Ramhormoz city. As a purpose of this work, the role of lithology among the factors influencing karst development was investigated. Water samples were collected from Barm Jamal and Poto Springs, and formation samples were obtained from the Asmari and Sarvak formations associated with Barm Jamal and Poto Springs, respectively. The spring water samples were analyzed by the hydrochemistry tests, and formation samples were prepared as thin plates to conduct X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and X-ray crystallography (XRD) tests. The novelty of this study lies to assessing karst development by integrating hydrochemical analysis, XRF, and XRD methods with advanced simulation using the Phreeqc software, allowing for a detailed evaluation of mineral dissolution and deposition. The results obtained from the hydrochemical tests were subjected into the Phreeqc simulator, the dissolution and deposition amount for different minerals were calculated using the inverse modeling section of this software. Finally, all the results confirmed that the Asmari formation exhibited a higher degree of karst development compared to the Sarvak formation.
