The Role of Strategic Knowledge Management in Enhancing Innovation Through University-Industry Interaction: Evidence from Science and Technology Parks
摘要
This study explores the mediating role of Strategic Knowledge Management (KM) in the relationship between University-Industry (U-I) interactions and innovation outcomes, focusing on firms situated in Science and Technology Parks (STPs). Drawing on a survey of 189 executives from Brazilian STPs, we tested the hypotheses using structural equation modelling. Findings reveal that U-I interactions significantly enhance Strategic KM, which in turn drives innovation across four domains: process, organizational, product, and marketing. Strategic KM exerts the strongest influence on process innovation, underscoring its critical role in fostering technological advancements. Furthermore, mediation analyses confirm that Strategic KM fully mediates the relationship between U-I interactions and organizational, product, and process innovation, while partially mediating marketing innovation. These findings emphasize the importance of structured KM practices in translating the benefits of U-I collaborations into actionable innovation outcomes. The study contributes to the theoretical understanding of KM as a pivotal mechanism for maximizing the innovation potential of collaborative ecosystems. It also offers actionable insights for managers and policymakers seeking to optimize STPs as hubs of innovation.
