摘要

In contrast to traditional finance, sustainable finance aspires to engulf social, environmental, and climate change factors into the operational frameworks of the financial system. This study contributes by exploring the intersection of financial development, environmental sustainability, and the knowledge-based economy, emphasizing the role of knowledge creation, diffusion, and application in shaping sustainable economic transitions. Through a bibliometric analysis of 1084 research articles from 2005 to 2024. By using VOSviewer software, the study maps the intellectual landscape of financial sustainability research, identifying key clusters such as carbon emissions, innovation, environmental quality, and renewable energy. By analyzing co-citation networks, collaboration patterns, and research trends, the study traces how knowledge in financial sustainability evolves, spreads across disciplines, and informs economic policies. The findings illustrate how financial systems act as catalysts for knowledge-based economic growth, fostering technological innovation, green investments, and ESG-driven financial strategies. Four major clusters were identified: financial development & carbon emissions, financial development & innovation, financial development & environmental quality, and financial development & renewable energy. The study identifies the top contributors, institutions, co-authorship network, and journals focused on financial and sustainable development issues. Furthermore, the study aligns with core themes by highlighting how financial institutions, markets, and policies serve as vehicles for knowledge-driven sustainable development, ultimately bridging academic research with practical applications in policy and industry. By offering actionable insights for researchers and policymakers, this study advances the discourse on how financial development supports the transition to a sustainable and resilient global economy, reinforcing the crucial role of finance in knowledge economies.
