<p>In today’s hypercompetitive global market, the ability to leverage international technology transfer effectively has become a critical driver of innovation performance. Although existing studies have explored multiple factors of innovations in enterprises, it often underestimates the transformative potential of diverse resources available through external networks. Gaining insights from resource dependency theory, this study addresses this gap by evaluating the impact of international technology transfer (ITT) on innovation performance (IP) through the mediating roles of the enterprise absorptive capabilities (EAC) and collaborative practices (CP). Unlike previous research, this study operationalized ITT as a synergistic combination of multiple transfer modes; we test an integrated model using survey data from 400 Pakistani service firms. The findings obtained through structural equation modeling (SEM) for multivariate analysis support overall hypotheses. Our findings reveal that (1) ITT synergistically combines FDI, patents, licensing, and trade agreements; (2) ITT significantly enhances innovation performance; and (3) absorptive capacity (EAC) and collaborative practices (CP) critically mediate this relationship, a novel empirical contribution. Furthermore, a dataset from Pakistan’s service industry, a developing country, is relatively rare in prior research. The study highlights key implications for designing technology transfer systems by optimizing EAC and CP to boost IP outcomes, offering actionable insights for policymakers and managers to improve knowledge absorption and innovation performance.</p>
