摘要

Unlike previous research in the FDI growth literature, the objective of this paper is to use the dynamic panel threshold model to study the impact of institutional quality, knowledge economy, and financial development on the FDI growth relationship for 19 Arab countries over the period 2002–2019. In addition, we used the FD-GMM Estimator, which was developed in the same context, to better identify the optimal levels of these variables, which, once attained, will increase growth with FDI. We found that the nexus between FDI and growth is non-linear. The results show that the positive and significant effect of FDI on economic growth begins to manifest itself once institutional quality, the level of human capital as one of the measures of the knowledge economy, and financial development reach a certain threshold. Based on the results, this research proposes several policy recommendations.
