<p>Intra-city inequality, as one of the manifestations of inequality, has been focused by academia. While digital finance may help address it. We study the relationship, mediating mechanisms, and spatial spillover effect between digital finance and intra-city economic inequality. Based on the sample size of 2240 from 224 Chinese prefecture-level cities and municipalities from 2011 to 2020, the empirical results show that digital finance has indeed significantly mitigates intra-city economic inequality. This mitigation effect is realized by innovation and entrepreneurship. Digital finance shows both inclusive effect and exclusive effect, and the inclusive effect caused by the diffusion effect of innovation and entrepreneurship on the intra-city economic inequality is greater than the exclusive effect caused by the agglomeration effect on the whole.</p>
