摘要

Following the increasing attention to and development of industry–academia–research (IAR) institute collaboration, studies on IAR institute collaboration have increased considerably. However, although most of these studies have examined the mechanisms for collaboration and innovation performance, they have failed to identify the technology hotspots for IAR institute collaboration. On the basis of IAR institute collaboration patent analysis, this study analyzes key players of the collaboration to identify the technology hotspots in the technology network. Because few studies have paid attention to the status of each country in the IAR institute collaboration patent technology network, this study integrates countries in the analysis model to identify the niches for each country in the IAR institute technology collaboration. The results reveal that technology hotspots in the technology network of IAR institute collaboration are focused on interdisciplinary fields, such as those involving the preparation, development, and evaluation of medicine and those involving energy generation and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. This trend in technological development reflects the tendency of national governments to promote innovation in technological fields. Notably, France and the USA have played key roles in the technology network of international IAR institute collaboration. The findings of the present study provide a reference for governments seeking to establish alliances for IAR institute collaboration and to promote the development of new technology.
