The Nexus Between Technological Innovations, Foreign Direct Investment, and Carbon Emissions: Evidence from Global Perspective
摘要
In today’s digital age of globalization, technological advancement seems to be important in improving energy efficiency and acquiring renewable energy sources, leading to sustainable development. In this regard, it is important to study the factors that affect technological innovations and sustainable growth. Consequently, the current study investigates the nexus between technological innovations, economic growth, and carbon dioxide emission in a sample of 187 global countries for the period of 1998 to 2019. By employing the GMM model, the findings reveal that economic growth and carbon dioxide promote the advancement of technological innovations; however, energy consumption and economic growth raise carbon dioxide emissions and lead to environmental degradation. This study gives significant policy suggestions for the sample countries to improve innovations in order to enhance energy efficiency, acquire renewable energy sources, and attain environmental sustainability.
