The Impacts of Business Agility, the Digitalization of Business Processes, and Entrepreneurial Orientation on Internationalization: The Mediating Role of Social Media

This study explores the influence of business agility, the digitalization of business processes, and entrepreneurial orientation on the internationalization of technology-based companies and applying the intermediating role of social media. A questionnaire was developed and distributed using an online link for selecting our study’s sample of 170 Iranian export technology enterprises. The PLS3 structural equations software was used for data analysis, and the measurement fit was assessed using Cronbach’s alpha and convergent validity. For each variable, the convergent validity was greater than the standard value of 0.5. In addition, the obtained Cronbach’s alpha exceeded the acceptable standard value of 0.7. The results suggest that business agility and entrepreneurial orientation significantly influence the internationalization of technology-based companies through the mediating role of social media. Social media is crucial for global connectivity, decision-making, and creating competitive advantages. Based on the findings, technology-focused businesses in Iran need to understand the importance of digital technologies to enhance their efforts to expand internationally. They should develop various capabilities related to collaboration, customer interactions, and strategic flexibility and agility to identify and take advantage of international entrepreneurial opportunities. Therefore, this study significantly contributes to the literature and proposes a new approach to the internationalization of technology-based companies, which can expand the existing knowledge.
