The Impact of Governance and the Interaction Between FDI and Human Capital on Economic Growth in Arab Countries: A Dynamic Panel Data Analysis
摘要
The present study aimed to examine how governance dimensions and foreign direct investment influence economic growth in 14 Arab countries with and without human capital interaction from 2002 to 2017. In the context of the current study, researchers opted for a quantitative approach to address the research questions. This study highlights the heterogeneity among these countries by clustering them based on governance form and economic structure. A composite governance index with two dimensions was developed using principal components analysis. Our analysis uses pooled and fixed effects models, difference and system GMM estimation, simulation estimates, and path analysis robust. The findings reveal that foreign direct investment negatively impacts economic growth, both with and without human capital interaction. Additionally, the first governance dimension positively affects growth, while the second dimension has a negative impact in both scenarios. These findings hold practical implications for policy-makers. Specifically, they highlight the importance of governance dimension. To foster sustainable economic development, efforts should focus on enhancing governance quality.
