摘要

Rhizarthrosis is the most prevalent form of osteoarthritis of the upper extremity requiring therapeutic intervention. When routine activities such as opening screw caps or unlocking a door become painful, the underlying cause is typically degenerative changes of the thumb carpometacarpal joint. In cases where conservative treatment—including hand therapy, splint immobilization, and intra-articular injections—fails to provide sustained relief, surgical treatment may be indicated. Implantation of the Touch® prosthesis (KeriMedical, Plan-les-Ouates, Switzerland) enables a significantly earlier return to work compared with established surgical techniques. Preservation of physiological thumb length, combined with early active postoperative occupational therapy, facilitates rapid recovery of strength, mobility, and pain-free function.
