摘要

An 8‑year-old girl was referred by her pediatrician for a 4-week history of left knee pain and swelling. The patient had suffered from high fever and purulent tonsillitis 2 months prior to this presentation. The tonsillitis had been treated with penicillin for 1 week following a confirmed streptococcal infection (throat swab and rapid test). After a symptom-free interval, the patient developed sudden-onset left-sided gonarthritis, which persisted for 4 weeks. No other symptoms were present. She was referred to rule out rheumatic disease.
