NEMF inhibits the proliferation and migration of ovarian cancer cells by blocking the PI3K/mTOR pathway
摘要
Nuclear export mediator factor (NEMF) is considered to be a tumor suppressor in Drosophila. Based on the analysis of data from an online database, NEMF is downregulated in OV. However, the mechanism underlying its expression has not been reported thus far.
ResultsIn this study, the immunohistochemistry results showed that the expression of NEMF may be related to patient age and tissue differentiation. In vitro experiments indicated that overexpression of NEMF may inhibit cell proliferation and migration by inhibiting the PI3K/mTOR signaling pathway, thereby blocking cell cycle progression and promoting apoptosis (P < 0.05). In vivo xenografts showed NEMF overexpression reduced tumor volume and proliferation markers (Ki-67, PCNA).
ConclusionsWe speculate that NEMF is a potential tumor suppressor gene. Targeting NEMF may be an innovative therapeutic approach for OV.
