摘要

Objectives

Positive eating attitudes and mindful eating behavior are important for maintaining healthy daily nutrition and are linked to a healthier eating lifestyle. Although previous research has explored how eating attitudes and mindful eating behavior relate to physical health and psychological well-being, these factors have often been studied independently. This study aimed to examine the association between mindful eating behavior and daily physical health and psychological well-being, and to explore whether eating attitudes moderate these relationships.

Method

A multilevel quantitative diary design was employed, and data were analyzed using hierarchical linear modeling. A total of 50 students from Malaysia’s East Coast universities participated in the study and completed six sets of diary questionnaires over a 2-week period (Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday) (50 respondents × 2 weeks × 3 days = 300 diary entries).

Results

The findings revealed positive associations between daily mindful eating behaviors and both daily physical health and psychological well-being. Furthermore, the strength of these relationships was moderated by eating attitudes. A notable contextual factor related to the study was that most participants were Muslims, and their dietary teachings emphasize awareness and moderation, which potentially align with observed mindful eating behavior.

Conclusions

This study underscores the potential value of encouraging mindful eating behavior and positive eating attitudes to promote better daily health-related experiences. Future research should examine how cultural and religious dietary practices influence mindful eating across diverse populations.
