摘要

Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnONPs) are increasingly used in research because of their biological activity and easily absorbed by the body. Pumpkin seeds oil (PSO) concludes natural biological components that are suitable for cultivating nutritious food. This study is carried out to examine the influence of ZnONPs either alone or combined with PSO, on some growth performance and biochemical changes in rats. Fifty-four male Albino rats were randomly divided into six groups received orally for four weeks. The groups included a control, two groups received different doses of ZnONPs (5 and 10 mg/kg), a group received PSO (40 mg/kg), and two combination groups received both ZnO NPs and PSO. At the end of the experiment, growth performance and various biochemical parameters were measured. The combined treatments of ZnONPs with PSO improved feed intake, gain weight of the body, as well as feed conversions. ZnONPs or PSO showed a decline in liver oxidative markers against antioxidant enzymes. They also reduced C-reactive protein, tumor necrosis factor α, and α feto-protein. Moreover, they caused positive results in liver serum enzymes, lipid and protein profiles, glucose, insulin, and growth of hormone levels. A synergistic effect may be obtained for ZnONPs together with PSO supplementation in the amelioration of biochemical parameters and growth performance. However, caution should be taken with treatments based on ZnONPs until a final inquiry of the risk outcomes later. Further studies are suggested for testing more doses of PSO, either alone or accompanied by ZnONPs.
