Doping of Zinc Cation in PAMAM Dendrimer-Grafted Graphene Oxide Smart Nanoreservoir to Improve Corrosion Protection and Mechanical Properties of Vinyl Ester Coating
摘要
The purpose of the research is the fabrication of an effective corrosion-resistant vinyl ester (VE) coating with active corrosion inhibition properties. This research deals with the synthesis of functionalized graphene oxide by the polyamidoamine dendrimer (GO/PAMAM) and the loading of zinc ion (Zn2+) on GO/PAMAM at several different pHs (2–6) in vinyl ester coating. Then, 0.2%w GO in VE, 0.2%w GO-PAMAM in VE, and 0.2%w GO-PAMAM/Zn2+ in VE were applied to carbon steel sheets by stretch film and spread at room temperature for 24 h. FTIR, SEM–EDX, TGA, BET, and EIS analysis were employed to check the physical and chemical properties of the samples. The consequence of the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) analysis showed that the presence of 0.2%w GO-PAMAM/Zn2+ in the VE coating provided an effective corrosion preventative system with remarkably enhanced barrier and inhibition properties.
