The Effect of Green-Synthesized Ag Nanoparticles on the Levels of Creatinine and Urea in the Blood Serum of Rats

In this study, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were effectively produced using atmospheric non-thermal plasma by reducing an aqueous solution of silver nitrate at different concentrations for 5 min. The characterization of nanoparticles was performed using UV–vis spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and field emission scanning electron microscopy. This study aimed to examine the impact of AgNPs on kidney function (creatinine and urea) in female rats. The female rats were separated into four groups, each comprising five animals. The initial group represents the control group, and the second group was administered with a dose of Ag nanoparticles at a concentration of 170 ppm. The third group was administered a dose of Ag nanoparticles at 340 ppm, and the fourth group was administered a dose of Ag nanoparticles at a concentration of 680 ppm. The period between each dose was 1 week. Each week, the blood levels were analyzed. The treatment of rats with different concentrations of silver nanoparticles showed no significant differences in the creatinine concentration compared to the group under control. The blood serum of rats exhibited a notable impact on urea concentration throughout the exposure period and at various concentrations of Ag nanoparticles.
