Antitumor Activity of Biogenic Synthetized Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles Mediated Stachys Lavandulifolia: In-vivo Study Model

In the present study, we aimed to produce ZnO NPs applying Stachys lavandulifolia extract as a novel bio-platform to evaluate their antitumor activity on the murine tumor model of colon cancer (MTCC).The Stachys lavandulifolia-mediated Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) have been synthesized by utilizing the ultra-sonication method and characterized using XRD, FTIR, DLS, and FESEM techniques. The CT26 tumor cells were inoculated into BalbC mice to evaluate the anticancer activity of ZnO NPs. The 45-nm ZnO NPs was apparently able to significantly reduce the size of the tumors in a dose-dependent manner, which probably occurs through increasing the expression of caspase 3 and 9. Probably, the Stachys lavandulifolia extract was able to change the characteristics of ZnO NPs in such a way that its anti-tumor effects increase. Therefore, it has the potential to be considered one of the novel’s natural-based apoptotic inducer nanoparticles. However, further In-vitro and In-vivo experiments are required to verify and clarify their safety, selectivity, and efficiency.
