<p>The optical band gap energies of Gd<sub>0.96</sub>Y<sub>0.04</sub>MnO<sub>3</sub>, Gd<sub>0.94</sub>Y<sub>0.06</sub>MnO<sub>3</sub> and Gd<sub>0.92</sub>Y<sub>0.08</sub>MnO<sub>3</sub> samples synthesized by solid state reaction route are found to be 3.3&#xa0;eV, 3.2&#xa0;eV and 3.17&#xa0;eV, respectively. Observation of low dielectric constant at high frequency range of all the samples make them suitable for device functioning applications. The room temperature magnetic studies exhibit combined existence of paramagnetic and ferromagnetic behavior. The coercivity values are found to be quite higher in all these three samples. No significant variation has been noticed in the optical band gap, dielectric constant and magnetic behavior of the three studied samples.</p>
