High-density landslide areas: Hancheng County, Shaanxi Province, China

Due to the lack of landslide investigations, there is a great risk in the current understanding of landslide spatial distribution in Hancheng County. Therefore, based on the most complete database of landslide relics in Hancheng County, this study determined eight influencing factors according to the characteristics and research objectives of the study area, combined with relevant research. Based on the four measurement indicators of the number of landslides (LN), landslide area (LA), landslide point density (LND), and landslide area percentage (LAP), the number of landslide relics in Hancheng County at different elevations, slopes, slope directions, curvatures, stratigraphic ages, land uses, distribution numbers, and landslide areas at different distances from faults and water systems and the sum of landslide areas were calculated, and the number of landslides per unit area and the proportion of landslide area to the whole area were calculated to summarize the spatial distribution law of landslides in Hancheng County. The results show that landslides are mostly developed between 20°~25° and 500 m ~ 700 m elevation. North-facing slopes were more prone to landslides, the The number of landslides that developed in the cultivated land type was the largest. The river system has a strong control effect on the distribution of landslides, and landslides are more concentrated in areas close to rivers. It was also found that the farther the distance from the fault, the fewer the landslides. The Quaternary strata are the most landslide-prone. This study lays the foundation for subsequent evaluations and predictions of landslides. In addition, the results of this study can provide references and suggestions for the prevention and control of landslide disasters by local government departments and decision-making bodies.
