Prediction of shear wave velocity with standard penetration test and Menard pressuremeter test: The Eskişehir (Turkey) case
摘要
The Standard Penetration Test (SPT) and Shear Wave Velocity (Vs) determination are widely used in foundation research analysis. Recently, the Menard Pressuremeter Test (MPT) has also been used. There are numerous empirical equations determining Vs from SPT blow counts. However, no empirical equations predict Vs, based on the MPT results in the literature. Ten boreholes were drilled in this study. 143 SPT, 143 MPT and 143 Vs determination tests were carried out. 11 empirical equations are proposed in this study. 67 empirical equation predicting Vs are compiled from literature. The performance of these equations is tested with SPT blow counts of this study. R2 determined from equations compiled from the literature are very close to each other. In addition to this, VAF, RMSE and MAPE values of all empirical equations are insufficient to determine the best predictive empirical equations. The scaled percent error-cumulative frequency chart and all equations' scaled percent error indices were calculated. Equation
