Such defects pose significant challenges in functional and aesthetic rehabilitation.</p> Objective <p>This case series highlights the successful use of zygomatic implants for prosthetic rehabilitation in post-COVID-19 mucormycosis patients with extensive maxillary defects.</p> Methods <p>Three patients diagnosed with post-COVID-19 rhino-maxillary mucormycosis underwent maxillectomy and were rehabilitated with implant-supported prostheses using zygomatic implants. Each case involved individualized surgical and prosthetic planning.</p> Results <p>All patients achieved successful prosthetic rehabilitation with no major postoperative complications. Zygomatic implants demonstrated excellent primary stability, functional integration, and patient satisfaction. Rehabilitation outcomes included improved oral function, enhanced aesthetics, and significant restoration of quality of life.</p> Conclusion <p>Zygomatic implants provide a viable and efficient solution for the rehabilitation of extensive maxillary defects in post-COVID-19 mucormycosis patients. They offer high survival rates, reduce the need for additional surgical procedures, and streamline treatment timelines, representing a significant advancement in addressing the functional and aesthetic challenges of these complex cases.</p>

Background

The second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic saw a surge in mucormycosis cases, particularly in India, leading to severe maxillofacial defects due to aggressive surgical resections. Such defects pose significant challenges in functional and aesthetic rehabilitation.

Objective

This case series highlights the successful use of zygomatic implants for prosthetic rehabilitation in post-COVID-19 mucormycosis patients with extensive maxillary defects.

Methods
