Introduction <p>Posterior disc displacement is a rare type of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) internal derangement. It is characterized by sudden inability to occlude the teeth, posterior open bite, pain in and around TMJ and associated muscles.</p> Case Presentation <p>We present a case of posterior disc displacement of TMJ with history of inability to chew and pain in left joint. Clinical features of posterior open bite, restricted mouth opening and clicking on left side were noted. The diagnosis of posterior disc displacement on both sides was confirmed in magnetic resonance imaging. The condition was then managed by conservative method. Initially, medications were prescribed followed by elastic traction was used to close the open bite. Patient has been followed up for 1&#xa0;year with maintenance of good occlusion and satisfactory mouth opening.</p> Conclusion <p>Posterior disc displacement is an uncommon condition; early diagnosis is necessary for instituting appropriate treatment.</p>
