Background <p>The objective of this cross-sectional computed tomography (CT) study was to examine nasal septal deviation (DNS) and its relationship to sinusitis.</p> Materials and methods <p>A total of 110 patients (55 males and 55 females) who underwent a CT scan for reasons other than craniofacial pathology were surveyed. The CT scans were employed to investigate the presence of DNS, maximum angle of deviation (MA) and maxillary sinus area (MSA) and contrasted across genders and groups. The SPSS version 25 assessed parameter differences that were classified as significant at a level of less than 0.05.</p> Results <p>Regarding sinusitis, 64 patients (58.2%) had maxillary sinusitis, while 46 (41.8%) did not. Males constituted 59.4% of the sinusitis cases, while females accounted for 40.6%. Sex and sinusitis were significantly associated (<i>p</i> = 0.02). Males had a high rate of sinusitis (OR 2.49; <i>p</i> = 0.02). There is a non-statistically significant association between the groups and DNS, MA, and MSA.</p> Conclusion <p>There was a statistically significant correlation between genders and both DNS and sinusitis symptoms. In comparison to women, men appeared to have more deviation and a larger surface area. The study recommended assessing DNS and, if possible, correcting it to reduce the onset of sinusitis.</p>

Background
