Aim <p>Aim of the study was to assess the influence of single suture versus multiple sutures for wound closure after surgical removal of mandibular third molar in 50 patients in a randomized controlled trial.</p> Methodology <p>After surgical removal of mandibular third molar, on one side, the wound was closed conventionally by using three sutures, and on the other side, the wound was closed by single suture. Recorded parameters included pain, swelling, trismus, bleeding, wound infection/dry socket, lingual nerve injury, needle stick injury and periodontal pocket.</p> Results <p>The results showed that patients had significantly less postoperative pain when single suture was used and was statistically significant. Swelling, trismus, lingual nerve injury, and needle stick injury were also reduced when single suture was used, but not statistically significant.</p> Conclusion <p>The study findings suggest that using a single-suture closure following surgical removal of mandibular third molars could be seen as an acceptable and satisfactory alternative to the conventional three-suture technique. Utilizing a single-suture closure appears to decrease postoperative discomfort such as pain, swelling, trismus, lingual nerve injury, and needle stick injuries, thereby enhancing patient comfort.</p>

Aim
