摘要

An unusual presentation of an arteriovenous (AV) malformation within the submandibular gland of a nine-year-old boy is reported. The patient presented with a persistent, painless swelling in the right submandibular region for three years, which had progressively increased in size since childhood. Imaging studies, including ultrasonography and computed tomography (CT) angiography, revealed a well-defined, lobulated mass in the right masseter muscle, which was compressing adjacent structures. Surgical excision of the mass confirmed the diagnosis of an AV malformation. This case underscores the importance of considering rare vascular anomalies in the differential diagnosis of submandibular swelling and highlights the challenges associated with diagnosing and managing such lesions.
