Intraosseous ACC of Mandible Presenting as TMJ Ankylosis: A Rare Case Report

Adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC) constitutes approximately 6–10% of all salivary gland tumors, typically affecting palatal minor salivary glands, parotid, and submandibular glands. This case involves, patient with 4 mm mouth opening, with ACC in the right body of the mandible, extending to the condyle and clinically presenting as temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis, not been reported till now in the current literature. Thorough clinical and radiographic evaluations were conducted and ankylosis in right TMJ with osteolysis in right body region was seen in CT. Histological examination at multiple sites demonstrated a cribriform pattern. Despite the rarity of intraosseous ACC, it should be considered in the differential diagnosis for mandibular lesions. A prompt diagnosis, treatment, and vigilant long-term follow-up are recommended in such cases.
