摘要

Closed management of condyle fractures is performed by maxillomandibular fixation (MMF). However, MMF does not ensure ideal outcomes in patients with telescoping of fractured fragments due to the difficulty in restoring the vertical height of condyle without open reduction and internal fixation. The use of hypomochlion with MMF is commonly followed to facilitate distraction of mandible and restoration of condylar height. But, MMF is extremely inconvenient to patients and associated with post-treatment trismus, fibrosis and risk of aspiration. This case report demonstrates a bioharmonic method of treating a telescoping, condylar fracture “without MMF”. The dual therapy using maxillary splint with inbuilt hypomochlion along with LIPUS is a simple, effective and patient friendly method for immediate restoration of form and function of condyle.
